Sarlat Rugby ’s B team gets a decisive second win against St Yrieix

Sunshine and sparse crowds made for ideal playing conditions on Sunday, as the B teams of Sarlat Rugby and St Yrieix faced off in Haute-Vienne. Yet the game itself was somewhat halting, interrupted frequently by penalties and pauses. Sarlat Rugby’s players were able to keep their cool, however, showing-off increasingly smooth teamwork and landing themselves a well-earned second win, 11-22.

Sarlat Rugby traveled to the Haute-Vienne to enjoy some rare sunshine this weekend. After a loss last week against Lormont the stakes were high against St Yrieix. Dominant in the first half, the visiting team saw their lead vanish in the second against a determined home team, but Sarlat pulled themselves together, dug deep and turned it around in the last 15 minutes of play to seize the win.

Sunday’s game was a real challenge for the Sarlat Rugby B team, having only won one of their games so far, they were up against the bracket leaders, Lormont. Despite fans filling the stadium to cheer them on, the B team faced an uphill battle. While they were initially able to seize the lead, the Lormont offense quickly took the upper hand and their well organized defense shut the home team out.

And they did not disappoint. Surging ahead in the first half, they dominated the pitch. They managed to hold onto their lead in the second half despite torrential downpours.
